Taking the time to study one’s own face isn’t always a priority in the busy life of an artist. Often we are so focused on other individuals and subjects that we forget ourselves. However, when I find a spare moment I try to focus on refining and honing my skills by completing a self portrait. Often a self portrait is associated with vanity, however for me it’s more about having a readily available source of interest that doesn’t lose value overtime.
It was once said… “Every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not of the sitter”. – Oscar Wilde.
